Dr Ahmed has been involved in learning and explaining Islam since the early 1980s. He has studied for over 13 years under the guidance of Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Al-Judai having covered topics such as ‘Usool ul Fiqh and ‘Uloom ul Quran, Aqeedah & Hadith studies. Dr Ahmed has also studied Tajweed extensively; he is conversant in classical Arabic and his area of specialisation is Seerah.

Dr Munir Ahmed has been teaching Seerah on the Islamic Studies course for a number of years and the lectures have been compiled into a 25 CD 'Fiqh us Sirah' publication. Having spoken at conferences and seminars up and down the country on a wide variety of topics over the years, he has been the inspiration for a generation of British Muslims.

Dr Munir Ahmed is a prominent Muslim leader, having been President of The Young Muslims UK and more recently, of the Islamic Society of Britain. He is currently a Shura (Central Council) member of ISB. He is a practicing G.P. and is married to a convert and together, they have four children. With the breadth and depth of his knowledge of life in Britain as well as the Islamic sciences, Dr Ahmed has an expert insight into the genuine challenges facing da’wah in Britain today. He is one of the Imams and a khateeb at Altrincham Islamic Centre.

About Dr Munir’s Teacher : Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Al-Judai

Shaykh Abdullah ibn Yusuf ibn Ya’qub al-Ya’qub al Judai’ is one of the leading scholars of our time and a key reference-point for the ‘Ulama in the West and beyond.

Born in al-Basra, Iraq, Shaykh ‘Abdullah Al-Judai studied traditionally and received Ijaza from the leading scholars of Iraq.

Among his Shuyukh are Shaykh Mahmud al Falih from whom he acquired the sciences of Tajwid, ‘Allamah al-Shaykh Abu ‘Umar Kayid al-Basri, who had the greatest influence on him and from whom he acquired the sciences of Hadith, theology (Aqida), and sects (Firaq), he received the sciences of ‘Arabic language from ‘Allama al-Shaykh Khalil ibn Abdul Hamid al-‘Aqrab, and he studied Shafi’i Fiqh with Shaykh ‘Abdul Karim al-Hamdani and his son Shaykh Nizar al-Hamdani. He also studied with Shaykh Ibrahim al-Faiz, Shaykh al-Faqih Najm al-Fahd, and others.

A founding member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research where he served as its General Secretary from 1998-2000, his roles – among many- included being an Imam & Khateeb of Al-Nijada Masjid in al-Basra (1976-1978) ; head Imam & Khateeb of Al-‘Uqaila & Amr Ibn ‘As Masajid in Kuwait (1979-1986); and a senior Islamic Studies teacher in Dar al-Qur’an in Kuwait (1986-1988).

Combining a broad Islamic Sciences knowledge with a vast knowledge and awareness of modern day tools and information technology, he served as a research consultant for Al-Sakhr Technologies in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, which introduced the very first Arabic PC, and he edited most of the initial software programs on Hadith and other Sciences.

Shaykh ‘Abdullah has committed to memory the entire Qur’an and numerous Islamic Mutun (text). He published his first book at the age of 18, and he has been commended by the leaders of Islamic Fiqh and Hadith around the world including Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi and the late Shaykh Nasir Al-Din Al-Albani. Shaykh Abdullah Ibn Yusuf Al-Judai’ has authored and done tahqiq (verification) very widely on a plethora of topics, numbering to nearly a hundred books.

Shaykh Abdullah Al-Judai’ is currently the head of Al-Judai’ Centre for Research and Counselling; religious consultant for Leeds Grand Mosque and a teacher of Usul Al-Fiqh at the European Institute of Human Sciences, Wales.
