Level 3: Fundamentals of Quranic Arabic (Intermediate) |

Level 3 is specifically designed for students who have completed level 2. Its aim is further consolidate a basic vocabulary as well as a grasp of fundamental grammatical structures utilizing frequently occurring Quranic words so that you capable of understanding and communicating in both spoken and written Arabic. There will be approximately 8 contact hours per day during which 5 modules will be taught.
Course Prerequisites
A sound understanding of Units 1 to 20 (Access to Qur’anic Arabic by AbdulWahid Hamid) which includes:
- Understanding Nouns, and Adjectives
- Pronouns – separate and attached
- Prepositions and associated rules
- Inna and her “sisters”
- Possession – the idafah construction
- Root words. Form 1 verbs, past form
- The past tense of qala
- The past tense of kana
- The present Tense
- Usage of an Arabic Dictionary
Course Aims
- To consolidate and increase the students vocabulary and grammar of the Arabic language.
- To deal with the major components of language.
- To help students improve their understanding of the Qur’an as it was revealed in Arabic.
- To inspire students with the confidence to continue their studies after the course.
- To develop the Islamic personality and strengthen interpersonal ties.
- To explain the relevance of the teachings to everyday life.
- To help realize how to create a balance between seeking knowledge, living that knowledge, spreading the knowledge and serving one’s family & society.
Course content
A sound understanding of Units 20 to 40 (Access to Qur’anic Arabic) which includes:
- Form 1 verbs, present form
- Irregular verbs
- The subjunctive, jussive and imperative
- Passive of the present tense
- Present tense of qala
- Present tense of kana
- Active and passive participles
- Words from verbs
- Forms II to X verbs
- Derived patterns of II to X verbs
- Conditional Sentences in Arabic

- Tafsir – Quranic selections: 1 hr
- Tajweed: 1 hr
- Quranic selections and Tajweed: 1 hr
- Arabic Grammar: 4 hrs
- ATQA Workbook Study: 2 hrs
- Quranic Style and Themes: 1 Hr
