This is part of the Knowledgeseekers - Winter '11 Course.

 

Level 1 has been designed for students with no or little exposure to the Quranic Arabic Script. Designed as a 30hr intensive course it seeks to equip the students with all the basic skills required to read the Qur’an with Tajweed and write the Arabic script from dictation.

Course Prerequisites

  1. Ability to read the Qur’an in Arabic not required.
  2. No knowledge of the science of recitation of Qur’an.
  3. Arabic writing skills not required.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this 5 day course, you will be able to

  1. Read any vowelled Quranic text or Arabic script
  2. Write any vowelled Arabic script
  3. Write the Arabic script from dictation
  4. Understand the unique features of the Uthmani Quranic Script
  5. Understand basic rules of tajwid or Qur'anic recitation
  6. Memorise and recite with precision the utterances of Salah
  7. Read with fluency and memorise selected portions of the Qur’an
