Set in the beautiful countryside at the heart of rural England, the Markfield Conference Centre offers voluntary and youth groups and community organisations an ideal venue for hosting conferences, seminars, training programmes or even social events. Markfield offers a lush green environment, away from the hustle and bustle of city life yet very conveniently placed and easy to reach, only one and a half miles from Junction 22 of the M1.
The site houses the campus of the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, the offices of Islamic Foundation, and several other key British Muslim institutions.
The Islamic Foundation, is a unique institution for education, research, publications and training established in 1973. The Foundation houses one of the largest Islamic libraries in Europe with over 20,000 titles in English, Arabic, Urdu and other languages and 350 journals mostly on Islam and the Muslim World.

How to get there

FROM NOTTINGHAM EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT: East Midlands Airport is approximately 12 miles from Markfield and taxis are available there. The taxi fare to the MIHE is approximately £30.
FROM BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Birmingham Airport is approximately 40 miles from Markfield. The most direct way to get to the MIHE is by taxi. The taxi fare to the MIHE is approximately £50.
FROM LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT: There is a direct coach service from London Heathrow Airport to Leicester. A single ticket costs approximately £25.
FROM LONDON ST.PANCRAS RAILWAY STATION: Trains run at regular intervals from London to Leicester and the journey takes only minutes. A single rail ticket will cost approximately £26. Tickets are significantly cheaper if they are booked in advance. Please go to www.nationarail.co.uk
FROM LEICESTER ST. MARGARET’S BUS STATION: Regular buses are available throughout the day. A single bus ticket will cost approximately £2.50.

By Taxi: Taxis are available from Leicester to Markfield and will cost approximately £15.
By Car: At junction 22 of the M1, take the A50 towards leicester. The Markfield Conference Centre is sign-posted from the A50. After about 1.5 miles, at the next roundabout, take the third exit which is Launde Road, leading to Ratby Lane. The Markfield Conference Centre/Markfield Institute of Higher Education is on the left after a further half mile.
