About Us

KnowledgeSeekers is an initiative of the Islamic Society of Britain (ISB www.isb.org.uk), run on a non-commercial basis by dedicated volunteers and resourced through teachers motivated by the desire to seek God's pleasure, not material gain.

KnowledgeSeekers is about developing and improving ourselves - course participants as well as organisers/volunteers and teachers - through learning and reflection. It's also about encouraging each other to put our learning into practice. That practice would include individual and collective efforts towards a just and caring society for all - irrespective of faith, colour, creed, social class or any other difference. This is what is reflected in ISB's motto of 'bringing together British Muslims for the benefit of all'.

Why Apply?

If you share our key objectives, which are:

  • a. fostering a deep, sincere relationship with our Creator;
  • b. gaining enough knowledge of Islam to practise our faith in our daily lives, and
  • c. building an Islamic character that lights up hearts, mends rifts and spreads good.

Who can apply?

You! This is very much an open programme and all are warmly welcome.

Please note that the acceptance onto a course is NOT conditional on membership of Islamic Society of Britain (ISB) or The Young Muslims UK (YMUK). In the past, over half the participants were not ISB/YM members! Participants are usually aged 18 years or over. Those aged 16 to 18 are also welcome IF they are accompanied by an adult aged at least 25 years who will be responsible for their conduct. You are also welcome to bring younger members of family as we offer separate activities for them and a crèche for younger children. Acceptance of applications for places on the courses is subject to our admissions policy [coming soon]. Please also see individual course information for any previous knowledge required.

Do I have to have hijab/beard or follow a particular madhab?

No, we are not here to insist that people follow a particular madhab or school of thought. And we certainly do not judge anyone by the presence or absence of beards or hijabs. We recognise that each individual is at a different stage of their journey towards God-consciousness and only God can judge our sincerity and piety.
